CFHI's India program provides Medical and Pre-Medical students
a unique opportunity to study various diseases in clinical
environments that represent the rural health care systems
in the developing country of India. The students will rotate
through hospitals and clinics under the supervision of local
doctors and will spend all four weeks in rural areas studying
primary care and public health issues.
» Clinical Sites
The following are few hospitals and clinics
as sample of possible rotations during this program. Restrictions
may apply for pre-clinical, and pre-medical students. Rotation
availability depends on local conditions.

For a week during the program, students will live in a small
rural community located in the village of Than Gaon. Here,
students will spend one week living and working with a local
physician. The focus will be on primary care and preventative
medicine. Students will also go on hikes around the mountains
and learn about the medicinal plants of the area. They will
work in the Than Gaon village clinic and participate in informal
workshops on home remedies. This is a great opportunity to
experience village life and health care in a rural area.

women only. Due to cultural issues and traditions, male CFHI
participants are not able to rotate at this site. It is a
private facility with both outpatient and inpatient facilities.
Three students may rotate here at a time.
All rotations are subject to change depending on local availability.
Local coordinators will make alternate arrangements if a particular
activity or facility is not available during the program month.
